With over a decade of experience in the publishing industry and academia, I am a Senior Lecturer in Publishing at Oxford Brookes University, where I teach, research, and write about the intersections of publishing, authorship, marketing, and digital technologies, such as AI. My work has moved from a focus on publishing to explore the wider ares of performance and community in social media settings and branding and power dyanmics in the cultural landscape. My upcoming book The Power of Brand Ownership: How Brands Shape Our Cultural Landscape, will be published with Cambridge Univesity Press.

I hold two PhDs, one in Publishing and Social Media from Oxford Brookes University, and one in Creative Writing from Edinburgh University. I have published multiple articles, chapters, and books on various topics related to publishing, social media, and branding, such as the concept of the citizen author, the role of digital platforms in creating and discovering fiction, gender in publishing, the impact of social media on authorial performance, and the role of gender in branding spaces in publishing. I also have extensive editorial, research, and writing skills, which I have applied in various roles and projects, such as running Echoes of the City, an immersive storytelling programme with literary Edinburgh partners, founding The Istanbul Review, a literary magazine, and working for Scottish PEN, a charity that promotes freedom of expression and literature.

I am working with Taylor and Francis to launch a new cross-disciplinary journal called Immersive Technologies, which will launch in Q4, 2024.

Additionally, I run a small tech startup that uses AI technology to develop personalised audiobooks called Dudley Editions.
